Responsibilities:
Secures revenue by verifying and posting receipts; resolving discrepancies.
Accounts Receivable Clerk Job Duties:
oPosts customer payments by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions.
oPosts revenues by verifying and entering transactions form lock box and local deposits.
oUpdates receivables by totaling unpaid invoices.
oMaintains records by microfilming invoices, debits, and credits.
oVerifies validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating information from sales, trade promotions, customer service departments, and from customers;
oResolves valid or authorized deductions by entering adjusting entries.
oResolves invalid or unauthorized deductions by following pending deductions procedures.
oResolves collections by examining customer payment plans, payment history, credit line; coordinating contact with collections department.
oSummarizes receivables by maintaining invoice accounts; coordinating monthly transfer to accounts receivable account; verifying totals; preparing report.
oProtects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
oUpdates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
oAccomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
